Dear Parent/Guardian and Student,

 

I will be your daughter or son’s math teacher this school year.  I wanted to share some of my educational and career background with you.  I attended Western Washington University, graduating with a BA in Accounting.  Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked in public accounting as an auditor for Moss Adams, LLP.  I returned to school and through Central Washington University obtained my teaching credentials along with a mathematics endorsement.  I have taught in the Seattle School District and here at Snohomish.  Four years ago I took a sabbatical and traveled throughout Latin America.  I can now speak Spanish quite fluently.  This is my ninth year at in the Snohomish School District and fifth year teaching Algebra II/Trig.

 

My motivation and commitment to teaching comes from my belief that by instilling the desire for a lifetime of learning in students, I can make our youth’s future brighter.   As an educator, it is my personal mission to help young people continue to develop into responsible and caring members of our society, life long learners, critical thinkers, problem solvers, effective communicators, and team members.

 

I also believe that an ounce of practice is worth tons of theory.  Practice is an important component of learning.  If your child is be unable to complete the assignment, I ask that they attempt every problem since homework is graded partially according to effort.  Please check in daily to make sure that your daughter or son completes their homework.  You can also check your students’ planner, my website or family access to see assignments and grades. I appreciate all of your support in this manner. I will be modeling these parent/student curriculum supports at back to school night.
